The UK's Top Staycation Destinations for 2026

From the Cornish coast to the Scottish Highlands, we look at where UK travellers are booking and which regions are seeing the biggest demand.

The UK's Top Staycation Destinations for 2026

UK staycation demand has continued to grow year-on-year, and 2026 is no exception. Travellers are increasingly choosing domestic destinations over European city breaks, citing value, convenience, and the quality of professionally managed holiday lets.

Based on booking data across our managed portfolio and wider market trends, here are the UK destinations seeing the strongest demand in 2026.

1. The Lake District, England

Consistently the most searched UK domestic destination, the Lake District continues to draw families, couples, and walking enthusiasts year-round. Demand peaks in summer and the October half-term, with bookings often made 10-12 weeks in advance.

2. Cornwall & Devon, England

Coastal cottages within easy reach of Padstow, St Ives, and Salcombe are among the highest-earning properties on our portfolio. Summer weeks here command nightly rates 2-3x higher than the property's off-peak average.

3. The Scottish Highlands & Islands

Adventure travel is driving strong growth in Scotland. The NC500 route, Skye, and Cairngorms National Park are all seeing significant booking increases. Properties here perform especially well for longer stays (5-7 nights) from guests seeking genuine disconnection.

4. The Cotswolds, England

The Cotswolds remains a perennial favourite for weekends and long weekends. Its proximity to London and the Midlands makes it ideal for short-notice bookings, and premium cottage properties here see some of the highest nightly rates in the country.

5. Yorkshire & the Yorkshire Dales

Yorkshire has seen a 28% increase in short-let bookings year-on-year, driven by affordability compared to southern England and growing interest in food tourism, walking, and cycling.

Daisy Bee manages properties across all of these regions. If you own a holiday let in any of these locations — or would like to explore conversion from long-let — get in touch for a free income estimate.
